💸 How This Dropshipper Turned 15 Failed Stores Into a Successful E-Commerce Brand

An anonymous founder who’s now selling across Europe and the United States.

Q: Take us back to the beginning, how did your dropshipping journey start?

I started around late 2015, early 2016 maybe. Honestly the first two years were a complete mess. I made zero sales, followed bad advice from fake gurus, ran random ads, and wasted money chasing “winning products”.

Q: When did things finally click?

It actually didn’t happen all at once. In December 2018, I saw some dog Christmas clothes on AliExpress and built a quick store around them then I paid for a $50 shoutout from a meme page and weirdly, it worked. I got 7–10 sales in a few hours. Then I blew the money on another shoutout that totally flopped. Even though this wasn’t the moment I had “won”, it was the moment that I got the bug and knew I just needed to keep trying.

Q: What kept you going after that?

Got a warehouse job and worked for 8 months straight to save up for another try. This time I launched a women’s gym clothing store, this time the website had real structure and an actual ad strategy behind it.

Q: So what changed after that?

The failures added up, but so did the lessons. I had finally learned:

• How to build a clean, trust-worthy store

• The basics of Facebook and TikTok ads

• And most importantly: to stop chasing shortcuts

In 2021, I launched a store in the gifting niche using everything I’d learned. I made my own TikTok creatives, followed a simple ad strategy, and for the first time I made daily, consistent profit.

Q: What does the business look like now?

That same store is still running. After 6 months I partnered with a 3PL and started holding inventory. I now sell across Europe and the US. I eventually moved away from TikTok and doubled down on Facebook ads, where I saw more profit.

Q: Final advice to other dropshippers?

I think a lot of people quit too early. They think failure means they’re not cut out for this.

But if you refuse to quit and keep adapting you’ll eventually win.

Q: Since you specialise in Facebook Ads, what would your advice be for someone struggling with their campaign?

People try to scale too quickly, they see one day where their sales dip and suddenly it’s time to pump the budget up or time to drop the ads, just stay steady and persevere a day or two longer, and keep an eye on your metrics, that is what tells you whether to drop it or scale it.

Another specific thing I would recommend is rather than just raising the budget in your campaign when you want to scale, duplicate the campaign and set the budget higher, you really shouldn’t be trying to micromanage your campaign because facebook’s algorithm can be very volatile.
